Centimeters, millimeters, meters, inches, foot, yards, furlongs, miles, kilometers…
How do we know where to use which unit of measurement? I asked my math teacher and found the following.
Centimeters is used in measuring rainfall so is millimeters.
Snow is measured in inches. So is a person s height.
Meter is used as a measure of length of clothing material, distance, also height of construction like buildings and bridges.
Like wise, nearly all distance and motorized length is voted in miles and kilometers depending on United States or other parts of the world.
Furlongs is used in measuring distance in only one country in the world, that is Myanmar. Isn’t that cool!
Yards are used to measure more fields, and stadiums.
Conclusion is that these are used as measuring units of length based on the size of the objects to be measured!
moreover all the units of measurement can be converted from one to the other. So they are all interchangeable. Now I feel more confident on measuring units in real life .
On my next post I will write about how to convert , how to calculate and how to measure. See you then!

Excellent post, again. Multiple units are used based on tradition but primarily to make the numerical value simpler and workable. For very large distances like distance between stars, light years are used. I think a light year is the largest unit of length.
I look forward to your unit conversion post. I do unit conversions often as part of my work. It is not as trivial as it seems. A famous example is the Mars orbiter that NASA lost because of a unit conversion mistake.
Thanks mama, not aware of NASA s miscalculation. It shows how important calculations and accuracy are! You always give me just so much more to think,I love it!
