Dear Dr. Fauci ,
Thank you for the leadership and direction you have been giving all Americans in this crisis situation.
I’m writing this letter to you on behalf of all the kids in America. I am a 9 year old from Illinois and my name is Abhi. I have high aspirations and I want to make many advancements in my favorite math. But I am really sad on the current COVID-19 pandemic. Passively being a mere spectator of the deadly virus is making me sad and helpless.
A couple of days back I heard you say that we may never be able to go back to the pre-Coronavirus days and I was really devastated. I’m the kind of the kid that looks forward to going to school and going to other social places. Nasty virus is not letting me visit any one. I understand that I am being a good citizen and by staying home I am saving lives, but to be honest it is very tough.
Well, you must be thinking why I’m writing to you. It’s definitely not to share my sadness but to ask you some questions, questions that every kid in America has at the back of their head.
Let me get to my questions and then I’ll also have some theories that might help.
- Going back to school and getting education is looking bleak. You see I am eager to go to college and university and this social distancing is making things hard. Don’t get me wrong, I like learning through internet but I miss going to school and meeting my friends. My question is when can we all go back to school and make more scientists and doctors like you?
- Today’s ease of world connections, would that continue to grow or are we slowly going back to the ages before internet?
- I heard everyone will be infected at some point, so today what precautions can we take to build our immunity so we can minimize the spread after we all flatten the curve?
- Will the vaccine flag people for future safety? Is the same vaccine going to work for all ages?
- Lastly post Coronavirus, is there a takeaway for future generations that we should all remember?
Now I want to share my thoughts or my theories to help.
- First reach out to the most vulnerable people and quarantine them for additional safety.
- Next, fast track testing and vaccine treatment.
- Working with a world of scientists may get us various options for treatments.
- People need people to fight this pandemic and I would ask all citizens to be wary of their own actions.
Thanks for reading my letter. I’m really hopeful that this too shall pass and we will get back to our lives as before.
Regards,
Abhi

Thank you for the encouragement Mrs. Davis. I hope to make you proud one day.
An Inspirational piece of writing !!
Thanks for visiting and reading. I’m happy to share my thoughts with you all.
Abhi, the world holds promise because of young thoughtful people like you. I agree with your recommendations and believe your words that this too will pass. Additionally, I like to believe that the new world post COVID will be extra smart and new innovations will be accelerated. I believe the most growth comes during diversity when we are shaken from our stupor of normalcy. I expect to see you personally make great strides on the innovation side too! Best wishes!
Thank you for your thoughtful message. I too believe that necessity leads to creative innovation. I’m grateful to be in the world of possibilities. Please visit my blog again, I promise to not disappoint you.
Wonderfully penned thoughts! You have the maturity that leaves many adults baffled! Great job on the blog, try not to worry too much about COVID and look forward to your bright future!

Padmini (I guess Padmini Aunty) 🙂
Thank you for reading and writing Padmini aunty. I write my little thoughts through this blog, so keep visiting.
Abhi I am waiting for the day when you will be one of those scientists that people will turn to for advice on various issues and till then keep pushing for answers, learning and researching topics that are of interest to you. Keep testing your boundaries and surpass them.
Jayanthi aunty, Thank you for many learning ideas you give me. I’m grateful for your trust in me. I hope to make you proud too.
Well written!
Thank you.
“when can we all go back to school and make more scientists and doctors like you?” – my favorite portion! Powerfully worded.
“continue to grow or are we slowly going back to the ages before internet” – would you be able to elaborate on what you had in mind?
This is so well thought out and prioritized, Abhi. Your thought process is very precise and accurate.
Thanks for the question Sutikshna. Technology basically brought people together and virus is distancing the world. Going back to ages before the internet implies going back to the time when no one thing was easily available across the world. No online shopping or the freedom to travel the entire world. Now with globalization there has been great connectivity across all the countries, and with Coronavirus the same connectivity is paused.
