French fries are amazing and delicious amid all the different theories of their origin. Have you thought of any reason why they are called French fries? It’s not because the French invented them!
Let me tell you the story – In the 1850s the farmers in Belgium used to cut potatoes like the fish and fry them and eat. They didn’t get fish in winters because of the frozen lakes and so they ate potatoes. The word spread out to other countries as a result of World War One, when the soldiers camped in Belgium ate these delicious fries they loved them so much they shared about it everywhere. They had to give it a name so they happened to pick the official language of Belgium troops and named them French fries.

I love French fries too and now I know how they got their names. I thought they were because of the way the potatoes were cut into long thin strips – thinking of French cut green beans, etc.
